Green Technology
A vital part of being an industry leader is being a good steward of our resources. Sawyer Paving is using and evaluating new methods of "Green Technology" for the betterment of our employees and our environment.
Recycled Asphalt Pavements
Recycled Asphalt Pavements, or RAP, are pavements that are reclaimed from a road or parking lot by milling or excavation. These pavements are processed by screening or crushing and then re-introduced into asphalt pavements at the asphalt plant. Asphalt pavement is 100% recyclable, and is by weight, the most recycled product in the U.S.
Currently, VDOT allows up to 30% RAP in their asphalt mixes.
Warm Mix Asphalt
Warm Mix Asphalt production is a process by which asphalt mixtures are produced at lower temperatures. Lower temperatures reduce fuel consumption and minimize emissions and odor. Sawyer Paving produces Warm Mix Asphalt daily.

Porous Asphalt Pavement
Porous Asphalt Pavements are pavements designed for parking and roadways that also serve as stormwater storage sites and infiltration systems. These pavement designs have the environmental benefit of limiting stormwater discharge, and the economic benefit of reducing and/or eliminating detention facilities.
