Asphalt Plant
The Sawyer Paving asphalt plan is in Salem, Virginia. We produce warm mix asphalt throughout the year that may be purchased on-site. Please call prior to coming to the plant for rate information and scheduling purposes. This is a seasonal operation.
Warm Mix Asphalt Pavement
Warm Mix Asphalt Pavement is a blend of aggregate, sand and liquid asphalt to make bituminous concrete, or, blacktop. We provide a soap rack with a VDOT-approved release agent for use by your hauling vehicles to easily transport asphalt pavement. Please check in at the scalehouse prior to driving on to the plant site.
Surface Treatment Asphalts
CRS-2 is a Cationic Rapid-Set Emulsified Asphalt that is used for bonding existing pavements to new asphalt (tack) and as a Surface Treatment asphalt (tar and chip).
RC-250 is a Rapid-Curing Cutback Asphalt that is used in Prime and Surface Treatment applications.
Asphalt Laboratories
It is imperative that a top quality paving job begins with a top quality product. Sawyer Paving has a VDOT-approved laboratory where VDOT-certified technicians design, test and monitor all asphalt pavements produced from our plant to ensure the quality of the material we ship.
