Asphalt-Paving-6-VDOT

Warm Mix Asphalt Paving

Warm Mix Asphalt, or, bituminous concrete, is a mixture of crushed stone, sand and liquid asphalt. These raw materials are combined at our asphalt plants and shipped to driveways, parking lots, and roadways within a 50-mile radius of our Salem, VA plant. This mixture is laid and compacted by our professional crews as the final step in the roadbuilding process. Warm Mix Asphalt is durable and offers a smooth ride.

The bulk of our Warm Mix Asphalt laydown and production stems from the maintenance of our current road system. We serve the region through agencies such as The Virginia Department of Transportation, the City of Roanoke, Roanoke County, Town of Vinton, City of Salem, Town of Blacksburg, and the Town of Christiansburg. We have the crews and the equipment necessary to handle the toughest jobs under the toughest conditions in the safest manner. We are proud to serve our communities' transportation needs.

Surface Treatment

Surface Treatment

Surface Treatment, or "tar and chip", is a paving application in which liquid asphalt is sprayed over a stone or paved surface. Before the liquid cures, a thin layer of aggregate is evenly spread over the liquid and embedded into the liquid by means of a roller. This may be done multiple times for varying applications.

Surface Treatment is an excellent application for driveways, parking lots and roadways. Much of VDOT's Secondary Road System is made up of surface treated roads. Surface Treatment is a cost-effective paving solution that seals stone base and saves the owner from buying loads of stone year after year. Also, after cleaning off loose material, a surface treated road may be overlaid with blacktop at any time in the future, since the initial prep-work is the same for both applications.

Daleville

Slurry Seal

Slurry Seal is a cost-effective resurfacing tool for a variety of applications. This is a blend of fine aggregate and asphalt emulsion that is mixed onsite during the laydown process. Slurry Seal is a fast-moving process with a rapid curing time that offers minimal inconvenience to the traveling public. It is a black, durable, dust-free surface that fills in cracks and surface imperfections while offering excellent skid resistance for motorists.
